Hilarious Cricket! Keep Laughing says One ERROL in Australia

Dear Cricketing Aficianados

It is obvious that England and Australia have conspired to play a huge JOKE on all of us,the general public, in order to amuse themselves. Twenty wickets fell for nothing yesterday in the trial match between Hick’s eleven and Hadden’s eleven.

Then, to top it all,England is all out for 85 in the Test match at Lord’s against Ireland.

No doubt all of you are killing yourself laughing at their humour! Even I have to admit that it is hilarious. Presumably they will all continue the humour in next Thursday’s Ashes Test? ……………….Keep laughing ……………… ERROL

Johnson was in Perth when the news came through that Hughes had been struck in a Sheffield Shield match at the SCG. In the coming days as it became apparent how grave the situation was, he jumped on a plane to Sydney. When Johnson landed and switched on his phone, he learned that Hughes had died. “I just sat there with my cap pulled down and cried as everybody got off the flight”.mitch-11

Andrew Fernando’s Readings of the T20 at Pune

Andrew Fidel Fernando

I. “Sri Lanka’s pole-thin co-operative,” ESPNcricinfo, February 2016

The pole-thin co-operative: Sri Lanka unearthed a skinny quick with serious potential in Dushmantha Chameera last year. In this match, Chameera may have played a role in finding another just like him. The second ball of Kasun Rajitha‘s career stopped slightly on Rohit Sharma, who spooned the ball just wide of the bowler. Chameera made quick ground moving to his right from mid-off, and dove athletically, both feet off the ground, to secure the catch. That first wicket sent Rajitha into raptures, and he would go on to set the tone for the innings with four more excellent balls in that over.

Dilhara Fernando — a Tale of Two Extremes

Prakash Govindasreenivasan,

DILHARA FERNANDO _ Getty imagesTo say Dilhara Fernando was destiny’s child, would be a gross understatement. Tall and adequately-built, Fernando took to basketball — a sport that probably suited him better. And then came his first tryst with cricket in 1995. He was 16 when he was roped in to play for his school, De Mahenod. The team was short of a player and needed someone to fill in and they picked Fernando due to lack of options. “One day, on the morning of a match, my school team had only 10 players. They wanted an extra guy. So I was in,” he recalled in an interview with the Hindu in 2001.

But, as fate would have it, he proved to be more than just filler. When his school’s main bowlers were getting plastered all over the park, his captain threw the ball to him in a bid to try something different. Fernando, whose only experience at cricket was with tennis ball on the beaches of Kandana, dismissed half the opposition team. Continue reading
