Nimal Sanderatne writes Sri Lankan bowlers dismiss ODI teams less than 100 runs in 16 times …. the alteration of title being a play on that song by Burl Ives !
Sri Lanka has featured in 25 occasions out of 98 times that a national team was dismissed less than 100 runs in a One Day International. In its 42 year history of One Day Internationals, starting from the match between England and Australia, played at Melbourne on January 5, 1971, there were 3321 ODIs played, including the third ODI between Sri Lanka and Australia played in Brisbane on Friday. Out of the 25 occasions that Sri Lanka has come into the frame, Sri Lanka has dismissed her opponents for less than 100 runs 16 (sixteen) times. Sri Lankan bowlers are responsible for the three lowest ever totals recorded in ODI cricket as they have dismissed Zimbabwe (35), Canada (36) and Zimbabwe (38) below 40 runs.
In the meantime, Sri Lanka too has been dismissed for less than 100 runs on nine occasions.
I list here the 25 occasions that Sri Lanka has been involved in innings featuring totals of less than 100 runs in ODI cricket.
