Joe Hoad passed way a year or so back due to a medical mishap. My appreciation of the man and his contribution to Sri Lankan cricket was recorded earlier in Cricketique via a ditty of my own in what may pass for “islander strain:”
Joe’s no Imran Khan,
He’s just a plain Bajan man, man.
You see Joe,
Da man could talk
Boy, how he could talk
That man know how to walk the talk, and even how to talk the walk
I have come across a set of photographs of Joe revelling in the Test Match between Sri Lanka and the Windies in Galle in November 2010 and present these to the world in further memory of JOE HOAD, that Bajan man, lover of cricket, stick fighter and cricketer, table tennis coach and true friend of Sri Lanka.
His flight to Sri Lanka was facilitated by Dushy and Tanya Perera and then by the FOUNDATION OF GOODNESS where he aided their training programmes and actively associated in table tennis and cricket coaching both at Seenigama and Ambalangoda (note appreciation expressed by Kushil Gunasekera in https://cricketique.live/2010/11/25/foundation-of-goodness-thanks-joe-hoad-bajan-coach/
